In a down-turned economy, there are many things people think will help bring us out of these tough times. According to a recent national survey, people believe contributing to a small business is one way. Ninety-two percent of US consumers agree small business success is critical to the overall economic health of the U.S.

The people are right. Patronizing small businesses is an investment in the local economy. In fact, for every $100 spent at a local store, $68 stays in your community.

The new Facebook group supporting Small Business Saturday (small businesses' rebuttal to Black Friday) has become the site's fastest growing new group. With over 1 million "likes" in less than one month, the latest shopping holiday is sure to yield big business for local shops.
